The College of the Canyons baseball team used a three-run, first inning to beat Antelope Valley College, 6-1, on Thursday afternoon on the road.

LANCASTER, Calif. – The College of the Canyons baseball team used a three-run, first inning to beat Antelope Valley College, 6-1, on Thursday afternoon on the road. COC improved to 6-8-1 with the win, while Antelope Valley dropped to 4-7.
Canyons had three batters with multiple hit days, including center fielder Nicholas Vigo who was 2-for-4 on the afternoon with a double and triple and crossing the plate twice. Shortstop Jose Haros also went 2-of-4 with a double and a RBI. First baseman Roberto Ramos had two hits and a RBI.
Pitcher Joseph Cloney was tabbed with the victory after tossing 6.2 innings. He gave up one run on seven hits, while striking out six batters. Timothy Han threw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief and had four strikeouts.
The Cougars will host Citrus College on Saturday, March 8 at 1 p.m.
