SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The College of the Canyons baseball team exploded for eight runs in bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 15-7 win over Bakersfield College on Tuesday afternoon at Cougar Field. With the victory Canyons improved to 10-9-1 and 6-1 in conference, while Bakersfield dropped o 8-11 and 4-2 in conference play.
Cougar starter Ryan Cruz (4-2) allowed three runs, seven hits and struck out seven in 6.0 innings and took the win.
Canyons finished the game with seven hits with two players turning in multiple hits. Jose Haros went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, including a two-run double in the sixth inning. David Oppenheim was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Justin Russell went 1-for-4 with three RBIs.
Canyons will travel to Glendale College for a 2:30 p.m. game on Thursday, March 20.
