Cloney Throws Complete Game as Cougars Rout Vaqueros

GLENDALE, Calif. – Joseph Cloney hurled his first collegiate career complete game and the College of the Canyons baseball team slipped past Glendale College, 5-2, on Thursday afternoon.
Cloney, who improved to 4-2, stuck out seven with one walk and scattered nine hits and two runs during his outing.
Canyons took a fourth-inning lead when David Oppenheim led off with a double, went to third on a balk and scored on Dylan Freyre's single.
The Cougars added two more runs in the top of the sixth to give the squad a 3-0 lead over the Vaqueros. Oppenheim hit a one-out triple to put him in scoring position. Roberto Ramos picked up a RBI to score Oppenheim on a double. Two batters later Chris Devery singled to bring Ramos across the plate.
Glendale got on the board in the seventh, but that would be all the runs the Vaqueros would see until the final inning.
Canyons added two more insurance runs in the top of the ninth after a JD Krauskopf and Austin Cole RBI singles.
COC had five different players with one RBI apiece, and Oppenheim turned in a double and triple to go 3-of-4 in the victory.
Canyons will host Glendale College on Saturday, March 22 for a 1 p.m. game.
