Canyons Gets Shutout in Home Loss to Glendale
COC sophomore JC Cloney throws seven and 2/3 innings while striking out nine batters.
A two-hit shutout by L.A. Mission College starting pitcher Aaron Hamilton silenced the Cougar bats in a 3-0 loss at Cougar Field on Thursday afternoon to hand Canyons its third straight loss.
The Cougars were totally stifled on offense, but COC starting pitcher J.C. Cloney pitched well enough to keep his team in it.
Cloney lasted seven and 2/3 innings, surrendered three hits, four walks and three runs while striking out nine Eagles hitters. Cloney's record dropped to 6-4 and the sophomore now has a 2.33 ERA on the season.
Colton Burns and Chris Devery were the only Cougars to collect hits. Burns went 1-for-4 and Devery finished the game going 1-for-3.
With the loss COC's record drops to 17-15 overall and to 9-8 in Western State Conference, South Division play.
The Cougars currently sit in the middle of the pack in fourth place.
Canyons will next host Bakersfield College at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Cougar Field.
