No. 16 Canyons Runs Streak to Four with 8-3 Win at Barstow
The Cougars mauled Barstow for seven runs in a decisive third inning that featured two-run home runs from both Cole Kleszcz and Wes Felber.
No. 16 College of the Canyons won its fourth straight game, claiming an 8-3 conference road win vs. host Barstow College on Tuesday.
The Cougars mauled Barstow for seven runs in a decisive third inning that featured two-run home runs from both Cole Kleszcz and Wes Felber. Kris Keach also doubled home two runs in the inning to help give COC a 7-0 lead.
Felber and Kleszcz each finished with three hits in the game. Keach and Senituli Taufahema were both 2-for-4 on the day. Kleszcz also scored a pair of runs.
COC left-hander Jacob Lopez (3-1) picked up his third win in as many starts, allowing five hits and two runs in six innings. All three of the freshman's victories have come on the road.
The combination of Jarrett Poh, Connor Dreyer and Sean Ward pitched the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, respectively, with the Vikings able to push across a run vs. Dreyer on a sacrifice fly to left field.
Canyons (15-9, 8-1) continues to lead the Western State Conference (WSC), East Division with 11 conference games remaining on the schedule.
COC and Barstow will continue its three-game set at Cougar Field on Thursday, March 30. First pitch scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
