Canyons Football to Open Season Ranked in Both Polls

College of the Canyons is ranked in both California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) football polls to begin the 2023 season.
Canyons is the No. 15 ranked team in the state according to the JC Athletic Bureau Coaches pre-season poll. The Cougars are also ranked No. 17 in the opening California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) poll.
COC's week one opponent Citrus College is ranked No. 23 in the coaches poll and No. 19 in the CCCSIA rankings.
Defending state champion College of San Mateo is the top ranked team on the JC Athletic Bureau side followed by Riverside City College, Mt. San Antonio, Fullerton and American River College in the top five spots.
The CCCSIA ranking share the same top-four teams, with San Mateo, RCC, Mt. SAC and Fullerton preceding No. 5 Ventura.
Citrus joins Fullerton (No. 4 / No. 4), Ventura (No. 8 / No. 5), El Camino (No. 16 / T-No.15), Allan Hancock (T-No.17 / No. 22) and Santa Barbara City College (NR / No. 25) as currently ranked opponents on the Cougars 2023 schedule.
