MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - College of the Canyons men's basketball team used a 43-point second half to defeat Irvine Valley College 59-55 in the second round of the Saddleback Tournament.
Jaylen Bland turned in a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Tyler Barber led all scorers with 14 points.
After falling behind by two points at the break, Canyons took control of the second half and outscored Irvine 14-8 in the paint. The Lasers would make one final push with less than a minute left in regulation, but poor free throw shooting by Irvine Valley held them off.
