Men's Basketball Downs Ventura in Semifinals
LANCASTER, Calif. – After a first round come from behind victory the day before, the College of the Canyons men’s basketball team handily beat Western State Conference, North Division, foe Ventura College 88-65 on Saturday night in the semifinal round of the Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament.

LANCASTER, Calif. – After a first round come from behind victory the day before, the College of the Canyons men's basketball team handily beat Western State Conference, North Division, foe Ventura College 88-65 on Saturday night in the semifinal round of the Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament.
The Cougars (4-3) shot 60 percent (30-50) from the field and made 6-of-10 3-pointers on the night. Canyons also held a 48-24 advantage in points in the paint and rebounds, 38-29.
Sophomore Ilya Ilyayev had 21 points and four rebounds, whole sophomore David Horst turned in 17 points and three assists. Sophomore Dalibor Nonkovic had a career high 18 points on a 6-for-10 shooting night.
The Cougars will play in the championship game tomorrow, Dec. 8, as they go against San Bernardino Valley College.
