Trio of Men’s Basketball Players Named All-Conference
Three College of the Canyons men’s basketball players were named to the Western State Conference, North Division, All-Conference team, as voted on by the conference coaches.
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Three College of the Canyons men's basketball players were named to the Western State Conference, North Division, All-Conference team, as voted on by the conference coaches.
Sophomores Ilya Ilyayev and David Horst were named to first-team, and sophomore Roman Delgado was named honorable mention.
Ilyayev turned in 17.2 ppg to become the fourth-best scorer in the conference, after totaling 206 points. The forward was ranked 18th in field goal percentage, shooting 50.0 percent from the field during the conference season and had nine games with 15 or more points during 12 conference games.
Horst, who was named all-conference honorable mention last season, was ranked third on the team with 10.1 ppg. The guard had two games during the WSC North where he turned in 16 points and had a season high seven assists versus Santa Barbara (2/5).
Delgado earned his first all-conference nod of his collegiate career. The guard was second in the conference dishing out 5.5 apg and garnering 32 steals. The Hart High School graduate also averaged 11.3 ppg, including eight games where he scored in double digits.
