Canyons Knocks off ARC for Second Round Tourney Win
SANTA ROSA, Calif. – A strong second half effort powered the College of the Canyons men's basketball team to a 83-69 victory over American River College in the Cougars' second game at the Santa Rosa College 2014 Kris Kringle Tournament.
COC guard Coley Apsay turned in another solid all-around performance scoring 21 points to lead the way offensively for the Cougars. Apsay also filled out the rest of his stat line, adding seven rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Guard Riley Honaker contributed valuable minutes off the bench for the Cougars scoring 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting in 25 minutes.
Elsewhere on the court forward Tullio Parry (11 points and six rebounds) and Ricardo Greaves (12 points and five rebounds) each made their presence felt.
The win boosts COC's record to 7-4 on the season.
Canyons will next play hosts Santa Rosa College in the tournament's championship game at 8 p.m. Saturday Dec. 20.
