Cougars Cruise Past Santa Monica 64-51

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – A strong shooting performance guided the College of the Canyons men's basketball team to a 64-51 conference win over Santa Monica College on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars shot a scorching 49 percent from the field for the game, while holding Santa Monica to only 28.1 percent from the floor.
COC guard Coley Apsay led the Cougars with a solid box score-filling performance. Apsay scored 15 points, grabbed seven boards, dished out seven assists and stripped the ball three times from Corsair players.
Forward Ricardo Greaves also had a strong showing scoring 15 points and collecting five rebounds in just 17 minutes of action because of foul trouble.
Brenden Otero came off the bench and scored a team-high 16 points on an efficient 8-of-11 shooting night.
The victory brings COC's record to 9-6 overall and ends a brief two-game losing streak. The Cougars are now 1-1 against opponents from the Western State Conference, South Division.
College of the Canyons next hosts L.A. Valley College at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Cougar Cage.
