The College of the Canyons men's basketball team put together a convincing defensive effort on Saturday, as the Cougars rolled past Glendale College 70-47.
COC (10-7, 2-2) opened up an early first half lead against the Vaqueros (1-14, 0-4), by keeping Glendale's shooters in check. On the night, Glendale shot a miserable 16-of-66 from the field, for a 24.2 percent mark.
Canyons did not shoot he ball exceptionally well at 38.5 percent, but outrebounded Glendale 50-26 to help build an 18-point first half lead.
COC head coach Howard Fisher had an opportunity to see his entire 13-man roster in action, as every member of the team logged minutes on Saturday.
The Cougar bench produced 20 points, led by sophomore guard Jalen Ewell's nine points.
Cougar forward Ricardo Greaves led COC's starters with 15 points, to go along with 10 rebounds and a game-high five blocks.
COC forward Brenden Otero posted 10 points, four rebounds and three assists, while fellow forward Tullio Parry pulled down 14 boards to go with seven points.
Guards Coley Apsay and Victor Nwaba each finished the game with nine points and five rebounds.
Canyons is currently tied with six other teams for the second place spot in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division.
COC will next travel to West L.A. at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21.
