Cougars Scratch Out 74-71 Victory Over Monarchs
VALLEY GLEN, Calif. — College of the Canyons forward Tullio Parry scored 19 points and guard Chance Cole netted 18, helping the Cougars edge out a 74-71 victory over Los Angeles Valley College on Saturday afternoon.
The win pulls COC's conference record to 5-5, good for a three-way tie with Bakersfield and Santa Monica in the Western Conference South standings with four games left.
The first half was a fast-paced high scoring affair with the two teams scoring a combined 84 points. The Cougars entered halftime with a six-point lead and would hang on for a three-point victory.
Tullio Parry didn't take a rest, playing all 40 minutes while scoring 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting along with three rebounds.
For the season, Parry averages 12 points per game and is shooting 42.2 percent.
Chance Cole scored 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, including a trio three-pointers.
Brodric Smith had an impressive game off the bench, scoring eight points and grabbing five rebounds in 21 minutes of play.
With the victory, COC takes its overall record to 13-10.
Canyons will look to extend its two-game win streak when the team travels to Glendale College at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11.
