No. 20 Canyons to Tip-Off vs. No. 13 Santiago Canyon in Regional Playoffs

The College of the Canyons men's basketball program will compete in the 2018 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Playoffs after earning the No. 20 seed.

No. 20 Canyons (14-13, 5-3) is set to face No. 13 Santiago Canyon College in opening round action on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Cougars finished as runner up in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division after falling to conference champion West L.A. College 93-79 in the regular season finale on Saturday.

The loss halted COC's win streak at four games and placed the Cougars in the conference's second place slot. Canyons posted a 5-3 record over its final 10 contests.

Santiago Canyon College (19-9, 6-6) finished fifth in the Orange Empire Conference after suffering a 78-58 loss to Irvine Valley College in its final regular season game. The Hawks, who boast a 7-1 home court record, went 5-5 down the stretch.

All regional playoff games will be played on the campuses of the higher seeds with teams vying for one of eight coveted berths in the state championship tournament, scheduled for March 9-11 at Ventura College.
