College of the Canyons men's basketball player Robert Moss will continue his playing career at University of Saint Katherine after committing to join the Firebirds program.

The University of Saint Katherine (USK) is a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) program located in San Marcos, CA. The Firebirds will be relaunching their men's basketball team  for the 2018-19 season under new head coach Jonathan Ramirez.

"I'm blessed to have received this opportunity to continue following my dream at University of Saint Katherine," said Moss. "I thought my basketball career might be over after COC, so I am beyond excited."

Moss started 21 games for COC head coach Howard Fisher as a sophomore in 2017-18. He ranked third on the squad in minutes played, while averaging eight points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

For the season, Moss shot 47 percent from the floor and 39 percent from behind the arc. He also reached double-digit point totals in 10 games, including a career-high 23 points vs. conference rival Bakersfield College on Feb. 14, 2018. His three-point buzzer beater vs. Saddleback College on Dec. 15, 2017 lifted the Cougars to a 57-56 win over the Gauchos.

"College of the Canyons, in two words, has been life changing," said Moss. "I've been through a lot, but Coach Fisher and his entire staff were always here for me. They stayed in my corner, and when I needed help they were always there, pushing me to do better on and off the court. And that has changed me, dramatically."

The six-foot-four-inch guard is expected to continue playing a wing position at USK, where his three-point shooting ability and defensive prowess will be an asset to the Firebirds.

Moss is expected to report to the USK next month, where he will also be pursuing a bachelor's degree in kinesiology.

COC posted an overall record of 14-14 and 5-3 mark vs. conference opponents in 2017-18, to finish as runner-up in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division. The No. 20 seed Cougars qualified for the postseason but were eliminated by No. 13 Santiago Canyon College in the opening round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs.
