Canyons Still Looking For Conference Win, Falls 92-74 to Citrus

College of the Canyons dropped its third consecutive conference game on Wednesday, losing 92-74 to Citrus College at the Cougar Cage. 

Canyons (9-8, 0-3) was first on the board with a three-point shot from Deshawn Herold, making his first start of the season. The Cougars held the lead for the first two minutes, before playing catch-up the rest of the night. 

The first half ended in a 50-37 Citrus advantage.

The Owls (15-2, 3-0) pressed hard from start to finish, only letting the Cougars get within six points in the second half before taking off again.

Despite the loss, Canyons saw a strong performance from freshman, and current student-athlete of the week, Jonah El-Farra

El-Farra went 12-for-13 from the field commanding his team with 24 points, three rebounds and an assist.

COC sophomore Andrew Henderson ended with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists. 

The Cougars managed to shoot 50 percent from the field but committed 19 turnovers to Citrus' 11.

Citrus was led by Uriah Foster who added 16 points off the bench. The Owls received 53 points from its reserves while seeing three starters reach double digits.

Canyons will hit the road for its next two matchups. 

On Saturday, Jan. 14 the Cougars will face off with Antelope Valley College for a 7 p.m. tip-off before heading to West Los Angeles College on Wednesday, Jan. 18 for the same start time.
