Bio

Osiris Nalls enters his first season and second year as an assistant coach with the College of the Canyons men’s basketball program, after joining the program in fall 2020.

Nalls brings more than 20 years of coaching experience having worked with players of all ages and abilities, from beginner to former professional, in a variety of different team, camp, clinic and workout settings.

Beginning in 2002, Nalls served 10 seasons as boys basketball varsity head coach at Grover Cleveland High School. During his tenure Nalls led the program to its first California State Playoff bid in 2009. He also helped more than 30 student-athletes transfer to four-year schools to continue playing basketball. Nalls saw six of his former players go on to play at the professional level, including current NBA star Nick Young of the Golden State Warriors

Nalls moved on to take an assistant coach position at El Camino Real High School from 2011 to 2014, where he helped the boy’s basketball varsity program reach three consecutive L.A. City Title games and capture two championships. 

More recently, Nalls worked as the lead assistant coach for the Harvard-Westlake High School varsity boy’s basketball program from 2015 to 2017 where he helped the program to a state championship in 2015 and a CIF Southern Section title the following season. 

Nalls has also coached at various levels for the basketball programs at Granada Hills, Chatsworth, Sylmar and Agoura High School, in addition to stops at Glendale Community College and Mirman School.

As a player, Nalls starred at Granada Hills High School before a two-year career at Glendale Community College. He later transferred and continued to play at California State University, San Bernardino, earning a bachelor of arts in business administration in 1996.

Following his collegiate career, Nalls continued to play in Drew League and pother pro-am leagues throughout the Los Angeles area.

Nalls also works as a physical education instructor at Mirman School and is a coach/personal trainer at Gloveworx in Los Angeles. 

When not coaching or teaching, Nalls enjoys spending time with his wife, Yoni, and children Osiris and Syriah, who both attend Viewpoint School.

His hobbies include fitness activities, historical documentaries, reading and fine cigars.
