Canyons Finishes Second at WSC Citrus

College of the Canyons sophomore Ben Campbell shot a one under par score of 71 to finish tied for second in the field of 34, as the Cougars turned in a five-man score of 374 at San Dimas Golf Course to place seven strokes behind leader Ventura College.

The win by Ventura (367) halted COC's streak of back-to-back tourney wins to begin the conference season.

Host Citrus College (381) was third followed by Santa Barbara City College (382), Glendale College (391), Victor Valley College (436), Bakersfield College (467) and Antelope Valley College (478).

Campbell's round of 71 tied with James Bragger of Citrus. Brandon Resnick of Ventura earned medalist honors with his score of 70.

COC freshman Daniel Taplin was an even par 72 for the Cougars to finish in a six-way tie for fourth place.

Freshman Alexander Laendin at 75 and sophomore Jaeyeol Kim at 76 were the next best scores for COC. They ranked 13th and 15th, respectively.

Michael Lindgren and Elliot Bourke both shot an 80, with one of those marks serving as the Cougars' scratch.

Canyons will next compete at a neutral site conference tourney to be held Monday, March 20, at El Camino Country Club in Oceanside.
