BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — College of the Canyons freshman Corey Haase shot a round of 74 at Rio Bravo Country Club as the Cougars claimed top billing at Western State Conference (WSC) event No. 2 hosted by Bakersfield College on Monday.
Haase's round of 74 tied for second place on the day to lead Canyons, which featured all five scoring players with rounds in the 70s. Elliott Bourke of Allan Hancock College finished his day at 71 to be named the event medalist.
Jones Comerford was next in the clubhouse for COC with a score of 75.
Jack Roycroft and Clayton Kucera carded identical rounds of 77, and Michael Lindgren was next at 79 to round out the Cougars' top-five.
Clemente Yanes shot a round of 80, but did not factor into the final scoring.
The first place finish puts Canyons back in the win column after settling for third at last week's conference event at Valencia Country Club.
