Cougars Finish in Top Spot for Second Straight Week

SOLVANG, Calif. — Clemente Yanes fired a round of 74 to finish second in the individual standings as College of the Canyons won its second straight conference tourney with a team score of 379 at Alisal Ranch in Solvang.

Yanes' round of 74 tied with Adam Burrola of Hancock College. Both trailed event medalist Zack Silverman's score of 73.

The Cougars, which won the event by 14 strokes, had all six players score in the 70s, with Michael Lindgren's score of 79 dropped from the final five-man score.

Clayton Kucera was second for COC with a score of 75. Jack Roycroft finished his day at 76.

Corey Haase and Jones Comerford both finished with rounds of 77.

In the team scoring, Allan Hancock placed second at 393 followed by Ventura College at 396, host Santa Barbara City College at 398 and Glendale College at 399.

Canyons returns to action Monday, Feb. 26, at WSC event No. 4 hosted by Ventura at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.
