SAN DIMAS — College of the Canyons failed to finish first at a conference event for the first time this season, settling for third place with a five-man score of 379 at San Dimas Golf Course on Monday.

Canyons had won six straight Western State Conference (WSC) events heading into Monday's tourney, but instead finished behind event winner Ventura College (365) and runner-up Glendale College (367). COC (379) in third was followed by Santa Barbara City College (380), host Citrus College (384) and Bakersfield (385) in a very close top six. Antelope Valley (424) and Allan Hancock (441) rounded out the team field.

The Cougars had not played since March 21, after having the WSC event scheduled for March 28 postponed due to inclement weather.

COC freshman Leo Cheng posted the top score for his squad with an even-par round of 72 that tied with five others for sixth overall. Nicholas Burns of Ventura was the event medalist with a round of 69.

Jordan Allaire finished just outside the top-15 with his round of 75. Likewise for Kieran Bye (76) and Magnus Hansen (77). Noe Del Campo was the last to score for Canyons with his tally at 79. Paul Hautbourg (84) had his round scratched.
