OXNARD, Calif. – A 1-1 draw against Oxnard College ended College of the Canyons' four-game winning streak, but an eight-game unbeaten streak remains intact.
Two first-half goals scored within minutes of each other were the only offensive output both teams were able to muster in the evenly matched contest.
In the 23rd minute, COC's Andy Ruiz's third goal of the season opened the game's and gave the Cougars a very brief 1-0 lead.
Moments later, in the 25th minute, Oxnard's Christian Guzman scored the equalizer, tying the match at 1-1.
Oxnard outshot the Cougars 5 to 4 in the defensive battle, forcing Cougars goalkeeper Steven Rodriguez to make four saves.
The draw drops College of the Canyons' record to 6-1-3 overall, and 4-0-3 against conference opponents.
COC hosts L.A. Mission College at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, on the college's upper field.
