Despite holding its opponent scoreless in the first half for the third straight game, the College of the Canyons men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 home loss to No. 4 Hartnell College on Friday.
Canyons kept pace with the state ranked Panthers until the opening minutes of the second half, when Hartnell forward Wily Miranda scored a pair of goals within a span of four minutes to seize the momentum, and eventually the game.
Miranda's goals came in the 48th and 52nd minutes, respectively. Hartnell freshman Mauricio Garcia then added a third score in the 72nd minute.
COC freshman forward Dominic Menolascino scored the lone goal for the Cougars late in the game at the 81-minute mark.
Canyons goalkeeper Cristian Arriaga (1-4) took the loss. He was credited with three saves in the game.
Hartnell finished the game with 13 shots, compared to nine by the Cougars.
