College of the Canyons played to a scoreless draw with No. 3 state ranked Santa Barbara City College on Tuesday, during a home match in which the Cougars created a number of scoring opportunities that couldn't be capitalized on.

Canyons (2-2-2) has played to a draw in two of its last three games after starting the season 2-0.

COC goalkeeper Gabriel Ochoa recorded two saves to get the clean sheet.

SBCC (5-1-1) tallied 19 shots in the game compared to 11 by the Cougars. The Vaqueros also earned five corner kicks, while Canyons had two.

COC sophomore Andres Lozano had three shots in the game, including a pair of scoring opportunities in the second half but was unable to get the ball past a responsive Vaquero defensive unit. Jose Luis Ruiz was also active on the attack with three shots of his own.

The draw result dropped SBCC down to No. 6 in the most recent California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) statewide poll. The Cougars are currently unranked.

Canyons will face another highly regarded opponent when the Cougars travel north to face No. 4 state ranked Taft College at 4 p.m. on Friday.
