Cougars Fall to Saddleback In Season Home Opener
The College of the Canyons softball team dropped its season home opener, 7-2 on Friday morning against visiting Saddleback College.
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The College of the Canyons softball team dropped its season home opener, 7-2 on Friday morning against visiting Saddleback College. The Cougars, who are still looking for their first win, drop to 0-3 on the season, while Saddleback improved to 7-2.
No Cougar had more than a single hit in the game, but center fielder Venise Elisara tallied a double and left fielder Taylor Dunne notched two RBIs.
Morgan Simmons was tabbed with the loss after giving up nine hits and seven runs (six earned). She struck out four and walked two in six innings of work. Danielle Estrada turned in one scoreless and hitless inning of relief.
Canyons' offense couldn't get anything up on the board until they were down 7-0 in the sixth inning.
The Cougars return to action on Feb. 14 for a 2 p.m. game against Santa Barbara City College.
