COC first baseman Kaitlyn Shreves had a monster outing, finishing second game 3-for-3 with seven RBIs.
COC easily captured the first matchup of the day by a score of 7-0 behind a complete game shutout from sophomore Milana Casillas, who finished with just four hits allowed and three strikeouts in seven innings.
While Canyons had no trouble putting runs on the board, a large portion of their offense was supplied singlehandedly by right fielder Jennifer Metcalf, who drove in five of the team's seven runs on a triple and a home run.
Teammate Lauren Anderson continued to add to her impressive season totals, contributing a hit and an RBI of her own.
The second game, a 9-8 thriller, demanded a more concentrated effort from the Cougars, who fell down 7-1 after two innings.
Ironically, LA Valley pitcher Vanessa Gonzalez added the most significant offensive contribution of the evening for her team, blasting a three-run home run in the second inning, in which the team scored five runs to open up the large lead.
From there, it was all COC.
After scoring two runs in the third inning, the Cougars scored three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to take a 9-7 lead before hanging on for the win.
Canyons first baseman Kaitlyn Shreves had a monster outing, finishing a single short of hitting for the cycle. In reaching base on a double, a triple and a home run, Shreves drove in seven of COC's nine runs.
COC shortstop Cheyenne Steward had a strong outing from the leadoff spot for COC, smacking three hits and scoring four runs with a stolen base.
Anderson finished the second game with a two-RBI triple.
