Bio

Bob Shults is currently in his second season as an assistant coach with the College of the Canyons softball program.

Prior to arriving at COC, Shults served as head coach of the West Ranch High School softball program for eight seasons (2009-2016) before stepping down in summer 2016.

Shults is also a retired police officer, having spent 30 years on the force with the Burbank Police Department.

When he isn’t coaching, Shults enjoys golfing, hiking, working out and watching movies. However, his favorite activity is watching his children Justin and Jessica, both former collegiate student-athletes, advance through the softball coaching ranks.

Justin, a graduate of UC Riverside, spent one season in the Houston Astros organization after being drafted in the 45th round of the 2011 MLB draft. He is currently an assistant coach with the Fresno State softball program.

Jessica, who was an All-American at Oklahoma University before playing three seasons in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league, joined the coaching staff of the University of Houston softball program in 2016.

Schults and his wife, Chris, reside in Valencia.
