VALLEY GLEN, Calif. — College of the Canyons combined to win six events at Western State Conference (WSC) Meet No. 3 on Saturday, hitting the pool for the final conference tune up prior to this month's conference championships.
Yamauchi made the first splash with her time of 26.61 in the 50y freestyle. She was followed by teammate Antoinette Peterson who placed third at a mark of 26.82.
Peterson also came away as an event winner, posting the top time in the 100y freestyle with a pace of 59.12.
Later, it was Yamauchi finishing first in the 200y butterfly at a time of 2:37.38.
The women's team scored 63 points to trail Santa Monica (64), Citrus (67), host L.A. Valley (84) and event winner Santa Barbara City College (194).
Feather brought home a win in the 400y IM at a time of 4:31.80. Miguel Martinez was the next closest to his teammate, taking second the event at 4:46.64
Martinez also finished second in the 200y butterfly at 2:03.38, and fourth in the 200y breaststroke with a pace of 2:24.89.
Feather followed his first victory with another in the 200y backstroke, clocking in at 2:02.59.
Ian Werner represented the other event winner for Canyons, taking the 50y freestyle event at a time of 22.61.
Kendall Payne shined in the distance events, placing second in the 1,000y freestyle (10:54.22) and finishing the day with a second-place run in the 500y freestyle (5:13.62).
Nicholas Anguetta also claimed a third-place finish in the 100y freestyle at 51.55.
The men's 400y freestyle relay team of Werner, Anguetta, Payne and Feather was second with a time of 3:23.92.
As a team, COC placed third with a score of 97, outlasting fourth place Citrus (91) and trailing second place L.A. Valley (102). Santa Monica won the meet with 134 points.
The Cougars will next compete at the 18th annual Pasadena City College Invitational April 6-7.
