Tim White Break School Record, Wins Conference Championship in Triple Jump
The College of the Canyons track and field team completed the Western State Conference Finals on Friday afternoon with a sixth-place finish for the women and a 10th-place finish for the men’s team.
MOORPARK, Calif. - The College of the Canyons track and field team completed the Western State Conference Finals on Friday afternoon with a sixth-place finish for the women and a 10th-place finish for the men's team.
Freshman jumper Tim White continued to improve on his impressive season as he won a conference championship in the triple jump with a leap of 52 feet, marking a personal-best jump. With the distance, White moves into second place among community college triple jumpers in the nation.
In other track and field action, freshman distance runner Chase Wheeler ran a 4 minute, 3.82 second 1,500 for a personal best and seventh place in the race.
On the women's side, Jessica Gill came in fourth place in the 400-meter run with a time of 57.86 seconds and Nouneh Assadourian turned in a fifth-place performance in the triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, 4 3/4 inches.
Canyons, which qualified to compete in 12 events, will travel to Antelope Valley College for the Southern California Prelims on Saturday.
