Jasmine Hall Breaks School Record In the High Jump at the Battle of the Regions Meet
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Jasmine Hall broke a school record in the high jump with a leap of 5-6 on Friday afternoon at the Battle of the Regions Meet at Bakersfield College.
Hall helped the women's team finished in fifth place with 78 points in the 10-team meet, while the men came in second with 148 points, in a nine-team competition, and just five points behind first-place Modesto College.
Hall, who came in first place in the high jump, also turned in top finishes in the javelin (121-5), the 100-meter dash (12.34) and the 200-meter dash (25.08). Allison Perry won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.75 and Courtney Spaulding cleared 8-1/2 feet to win the pole vault competition.
Joel Estrada won both of his distance events, the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs, with times of 1:58.31 and 4:04.60, respectively. Grant Stromberg came out on top in the 3,000-meters (8:58.05) and the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:15.32). In the field events, Louis Gipson hit 20-10 in the long jump, for first place, and Cody Moore topped the field in the javelin with his distance of 163-7.
The Cougars will travel to Ventura College on Friday, Feb. 21 for the WSC Relays.
