Canyons Track & Field Sweeps WSC Inland Meet
Men's and Women's teams both take first place in COC's only home track & field meet of the season.
The College of the Canyons men's & women's track & field teams swept the Western State Conference (WSC) Inland Meet at Cougar Stadium on Friday, with both squads taking first place honors.
The women's team won the 400m hurdles (Jada Selexman), triple jump (Caitlyn Zindroski), discus (Samiyah Hawkins) and 4x400m relay (Ariana Cooper, Tisian Nealy, Zakora Merriweather and Jada Selexman) en route to the victory.
The team also set school records in both the discus (Hawkins) and 1500m (Mikala Fairchild).
The men's team won the 3000m (Rodrigo Ornelas), 1500m (Ethan Walker), 800m (Ethan Walker) and 400m hurdles (Matthew Nali) in leading Canyons to victory.
The field also included student-athletes from Antelope Valley, Bakersfield, Glendale, Santa Monica and West L.A.
