Jada Selexman Places Sixth at SoCal Heptathlon — Clinches Spot at State Championships
COC freshman Zakora Merriweather and Caitlyn Zindroski also competed at the event, finishing 10th and 12th respectively.
College of the Canyons freshman Jada Selexman has secured a spot at next month's California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Track & Field State Championships after placing sixth at this week's 2015 SoCal Heptathlon Championship.
Selexman totaled a score of 4,037 among the field of 16 competitors at the two-day event, which was held April 7-8 at San Diego Mesa College.
On the first day of competition Selexman competed in the 100m hurdles (15.97/eighth place), high jump (1.55m/fourth place), shot put (8.35m/seventh place) and 200m (26.22/first place).
Day two saw Selexman and the rest of the field compete in the long jump (4.30m/14th place), javelin (21.58m/11th place) and 800m (2:25.97/third place).
Selexman, a Golden Valley High School graduate, will now have a chance to compete for the heptathlon state championship during the CCCAA State Championships being held May 15, in San Mateo.
