Cougars Out Rebounded In Loss To Santa Barbara City

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The College of the Canyons women's basketball team was out rebounded 53-23 by Santa Barbara City College and the Cougars dropped at 85-79 game to the Vaqueros on the road on Saturday night.
Canyons could only garner six offensive rebounds, to Santa Barbara's 25. The Cougar's total rebounds of 23 marked a new season-low for COC, which stood at 26 in the first game of the season against Mt. SAC.
Keiona Mathews turned in 28 points for the Cougars, along with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Shawn Kolani had 16 points and eight assists, while Jennifer Franco had 12 points. No Cougar bench player had more than five points, as Canyons' bench was outscored 38-15 in the loss.
The Cougars shot 39.7 percent (25-63) from the field, while Santa Barbara made 44.0 percent (33-75) of its shots.
