Canyons Miscues Prove Costly in 74-67 Road Loss

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Mistakes cost the College of the Canyons women's basketball team against conference rival Santa Monica College, as the Cougars lost 74-67 on Saturday night.
Shooting just 10-17 from the free throw line and committing 23 turnovers ultimately cost Canyons the game.
However, several Cougars did record solid performances in the loss.
COC freshman Monica Friedl provided an offensive boost scoring a team-high 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Friedl also grabbed eight rebounds and collected a steal.
Jordan Oster scored 16 points off the bench hitting on 3-of-7 from three-point range.
COC's leading scorer, guard Qimmah Russo, scored 10 points.
The loss drops the COC's record to 11-6 on the season, halting a brief two-game win streak. The Cougars are 1-1 in Western State Conference play.
COC next hosts L.A. Valley College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 at the Cougar Cage.
