La Cresha “Cree” Clark begins her third year and second season as an assistant with the College of the Canyons women’s basketball coaching staff, returning to the program after a standout playing career.

Prior to joining the Lady Cougars’ staff, Clark spent eight seasons coaching for the Hart High School women’s basketball program. Her pivotal role in player development and game strategy helped revive the Lady Indians program and was instrumental in helping lead the program to its recent CIF semi-final appearance. Clark served as the head coach for Hart’s junior varsity team from 2011 to 2019, leading her team to multiple Foothill League titles. 

Coach Cree is a former Hart High School standout having played for the Indians from 1991 to 1995. A few of the many accolades she received during her high school career include being named the Foothill League Player of the Year and earning a spot on the All-CIF Southern Section team. 

After high school Clark moved on to College of the Canyons where she starred for longtime head coach Greg Herrick from 1995 to 1997. Clark was a key member of the Lady Cougars’ 1996-97 squad that finished the year 29-4 overall and 12-0 in conference play to win the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division championship and finished the regular season with a No. 1 state ranking before eventually falling to Ventura College in the state championship game.

Clark finished the 1996-97 season with 722 points to smash the program’s single-season scoring record. During her Cougar career Clark also held records for three-point shooting, free-throw percentage, steals and assists. That year’s team averaged more than 100 points per game in conference play and set the state’s single game scoring record by totaling 147 points in a single contest.

Following her career at COC, Clark accepted a scholarship to continue her career at NCAA Division I New Mexico State University .

Coach Cree, already a member of the COC women’s basketball Hall of Fame, now brings her knowledge, experience and love for the game back to College of the Canyons.
