COC Women's Golf Sends Two to Compete at Four-Year Schools
Julia Youn is heading to CSU, East Bay and Alexis Miller will attend Marymount University in the fall.
The College of the Canyons women's golf team will have two players competing at the next level in 2016, with sophomores Julia Youn and Alexis Miller both committing to play at four-year schools in the fall.
Youn will head to California State University, East Bay, an NCAA Division II program located in Hayward. The Pioneers compete in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Miller is transferring to Marymount University, an NCAA Division III program located in Arlington, Virginia. The Saints are members of the Capital Athletic Conference.
Both Youn and Miller were members of the women's golf program's 2014 Western State Conference (WSC) Championship team, which also finished as runner-up at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships that season.
In 2015, the Cougars finished third in the WSC, but went on to also place third at the 2015 CCCAA SoCal Regional Championships.
Youn also qualified to compete as an individual at the 2015 State Championships, eventually placing 15th in the field of 26 players.
As two-year players for COC head coach Gary Peterson, Youn and Miller both earned All-WSC honors for the Cougars in 2014 and 2015.
