SYLMAR, Calif. — College of the Canyons hosted its annual Western State Conference (WSC) tournament a on Monday, coming away with a second place finish behind conference leader Santa Barbara City College at El Cariso Golf Course in Sylmar.
Playing under clear skies and warm temperatures, Canyons carded a score of 307 to trail SBCC's team mark of 289.
Third place Bakersfield College (320) was followed by Citrus College (329) in fourth, with Moorpark College (330) and Antelope Valley College (363) following suit. Glendale College had a single participant at the event and did not factor into team scoring.
Roecker, who goes by JoJo, earned medalist honors at last week's WSC event in Santa Barbara and has turned in the Canyons low score in every tournament this season.
Cassandra Lee finished her round with a score of 77 to rank 13th individually.
Santa Barbara's Lilly Carlson and Michaela Klundt of AVC tied for tournament medalist honors with a score of 71.
Monday marked the third straight event in which SBCC, the defending Southern California regional champions, and Canyons finished first and second in the standings.
With three conference events in the books, the Cougars will next compete in the annual Morro Bay Invitational Sept. 24-25.
The two-day event will provide golfers from across the state with a preview of the course which will host the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships later this season.
