Lady Cougars Remain Unbeaten at WSC Canyons

FILLMORE, Calif. — College of the Canyons rolled to 36-stroke victory at its home conference tourney, with three Cougars finishing in the top-five at Elkin's Ranch on Monday.

COC freshman Haruka Koda posted the Cougars' top score of the day with a round of 77 to place second overall.

Freshman teammate Paige Heuer was third overall with a score of 78 and Jessie Lin took the fifth spot with a final score of 83.

Sophomore Gina Chung also scored for Canyons with a round of 87. Joanna Roecker (88) and Shabana Poswal (91) both played well but did not have their scores applied toward COC's final tally.

Canyons (325) took first place in the team standings to remain unbeaten on the season. Santa Barbara City College (361) was second followed by Bakersfield College (385), Moorpark College (393), Citrus College (404) and Antelope Valley (507).

The Cougars will play in two more conference events before teeing off in the Western State Conference (WSC) Finals Oct. 28-29 at Alisal River Golf Course in Solvang.

Up next, COC will play at the WSC Antelope Valley event hosted at Antelope Valley Country Club in Lancaster on Oct. 15.
