Canyons Wins Sixth Straight WSC Event

LANCASTER, Calif. — For the sixth time this season College of the Canyons emerged from a conference tourney in first place after carding a four-player score of 328 at Antelope Valley Country Club on Monday.

Canyons remains undefeated on the season and in first place atop the Western State Conference (WSC) standings.

COC freshman Haruka Koda earned medalist honors for the fourth time this season with her round of 75 on a cold and blustery day on the links.

Sophomore Gina Chung finished tied for fourth overall with her round of 83, while freshman Jessie Lin was just one stroke behind that pace at 84. 

Joanna Roecker was the last to score for Canyons with an 86, while Paige Heuer (89) and Shabana Poswal (93) each had their rounds dropped.

Canyons topped the team competition by 27 strokes, finishing ahead of second place Santa Barbara City College (355) and third place Moorpark College (397). Citrus (401), Bakersfield (401) and Antelope Valley (493) rounded out the six-team field.

COC will next play at Simi Hills Golf Course on Monday, Oct. 22, with that event scheduled to tee off at 11 a.m.
