SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — College of the Canyons swept the top three individual spots en route to a seventh straight first place finish at the Western State Conference (WSC) event hosted by Moorpark College at Simi Hills Golf Course on Monday.
Canyons, undefeated on the season, carded a four-player score of 309 to top its next closest competitor by 30 strokes.
Santa Barbara City College (339), Bakersfield College (369) and host Moorpark (405) claimed the next three spots.
COC freshman Jessie Lin earned medalist honors after topping the field with a round of 73. Lin also medaled the WSC event on Sept. 10, and has a pair of top-three finishes to her credit.
Canyons freshman Haruka Koda continued her spectacular season with a second-place score of 75.
Sophomore Joanna Roecker took the No. 3 spot with a round of 79.
Freshman Paige Heuer was also included in the final scoring with her round of 82.
Canyons will now set its sights on the Western State Conference (WSC) Finals being played Oct. 28-29 at Alisal River Golf Course in Solvang. Sunday's round is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. while Monday's action will get underway at 7 a.m.
The Cougars will be swinging for the program's ninth WSC title, and first since the 2014 season.
