No. 8 Canyons to Host No. 9 Santiago Canyon in Opening Round Playoff Game

The College of the Canyons women's soccer team will host Santiago Canyon College in opening round action of the 2015 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Women's Soccer Southern California Regional Playoffs.
The contest will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in Santa Clarita.
Canyons (14-1-5) enters the tournament as the No. 8 seed, in the midst of a seven-game win streak. The Cougars are also unbeaten in their last 17 games dating back to Sept. 18.
Head coach Justin Lundin and the Cougars capped off the regular season by winning the program's fifth consecutive Western State Conference (WSC), South title.
COC has been led by sophomore forward Mari Kneisel, whose 30 goals this season broke the program's single season scoring mark and helped push the Cougars to an outstanding team goal differential.
The Cougars have outscored their opponents by a margin of 67 -16 this season.
Canyons is the No. 13 ranked team in the state according to the most recent California Community College Soccer Coaches Association (CCCSCA) statewide poll.
Santiago Canyon (16-2-2) is the tournament's No. 9 seed, having recently won an impressive 12th straight Orange Empire Conference title.
The Hawks have appeared in the State Championship finals in seven of the last nine years.
In 2014, Santiago Canyon was defeated 2-0 by Cerritos College in the State Championship game.
The Hawks are the No. 14 ranked team in the most recent CCCSCA poll.
The CCCAA Women's Soccer Southern California Regional Playoffs will continue through November with a state champion eventually crowned in early December.
