The College of the Canyons women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Fresno City College on Friday, as the Cougars posted their second shutout of the season.
Canyons (3-1) received a goal from sophomore forward Amanda Balzer to put COC on the board in the 18th minute. The score was Balzer's second of the season, and came on an assist from freshman forward Taylor Lopez.
Lopez leads the Cougars with three assists on the season. Balzer's two goals rank second on the team.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kianna Hemphill (3-1) was credited with the win along with her second shutout.
COC will next travel to Chaffey College at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.
