Cougars Are Conference Champions for Seventh Straight Season
Canyons (15-2, 6-0) scored three goals in the second half to cement its status as the Western State Conference (WSC), East Division champions.
LANCASTER, CALIF. — The College of the Canyons women's soccer program has been crowned conference champion for the seventh straight season after claiming a 4-1 victory over Antelope Valley College on Friday.

The victory also extending COC's current win streak to nine games as the Cougars can now set their sights on a postseason run. Canyons has not lost a match since Sept. 26.
COC freshman Kiara Gunn put the Cougars on the board in the 29th minute on an assist from Kylia Bradford.
That 1-0 lead would hold strong until early in the second half when Alondra Solis netted a goal in the 48th minute to extend the advantage at 2-0, and the Cougars were off and running.
AVC (8-6-4, 1-4-3) tried to make things interesting with a scoring play by Alyssa Sanchez that made it a 2-1 game in the 78th minute. But the Cougars were quick to respond, with Solis notching her second goal of the night in the 85th minute.
With the final whistle nearing, Jennifer Roney capped the scoring with a goal of her own to make it a 4-1 final score.
Canyons goalkeeper Jordan Burrow earned the win, recording a pair of saves in the process.
The Cougars outshot AVC 16-7 in the game, while limiting the Marauders to just two shots in the second half.
COC head coach Justin Lundin and the Cougars have won a conference title every season dating back to the 2011 season.
Canyons now boasts 11 WSC titles in its program history, with the previous two coming while playing in the WSC, East Division. Prior to the 2016 season, COC competed in the WSC, South Divission.
The Cougars will close out the regular season with home games vs. Victor Valley on Tuesday, Nov. 7 and Citrus College on Thursday, Nov. 9.
