New Rankings – Cougars Debut With No. 20 State Rank
Canyons (8-3-1, 5-0-1) has won its last five, outscoring opponents by a 21-1 during that stretch.
College of the Canyons made its debut in the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) statewide poll this week, following a stretch in which the Cougars have remained unbeaten across their last six matches.
Canyons (8-3-1, 5-0-1) enters as the No. 20 ranked squad in the current poll released on Oct. 18. The full statewide rankings are available here.
COC's last loss came in a 1-0 affair back on Sept. 24 at Santa Barbara City College.
For days later the Cougars played to a scoreless draw vs. Antelope Valley College in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division opener.
Canyons has since won its last five matches, outscoring conference opponents by a 21-1 margin during that stretch.
The Cougars, unbeaten in conference play, currently sit first in the WSC, South standings. Unranked Citrus College (9-3-2, 4-1-1) and No. 16 AVC (10-3-2, 3-12) are next in line.
With five games left on the regular season schedule, head coach Justin Lundin will be looking to guide his team into the postseason for 10th straight season.
Up next for Canyons will be a pivotal road match at AVC on Friday, Oct. 22. First touch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
