BAKERSFIELD — College of the Canyon got back on track with a 2-0 bounce-back conference victory over host Bakersfield College on Tuesday, after suffering its first conference loss the last time out.

Canyons (9-4-1, 6-1-1) recorded two goals and the shutout win was credited to Cougars' goalkeeper Kylie Yuzon

Around the 25th minute COC freshman center-back Sascha Marcellin scored her first goal of the season for the first of the match. Katie Russell was credited with the assist and leads the team after collecting her sixth of the season.

Late into the second half, COC freshman forward Rebekah Brooks was able to put one past the Renegades' goalkeeper for her 12th goal of the season, solidifying the lead at 2-0.

The Cougars continue to hold first place in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division.

Canyons will look to hold that trend at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Santa Monica College.
