Justin Lundin enters his ninth season at the helm of the College of the Canyons women’s soccer program, and 12th season overall at the college, in 2017.
He began his tenure at COC as an assistant coach in 2006, sharing duties between both the men’s and women’s soccer programs.
In his eight years as head coach of the women’s team Lundin has recorded a winning record each season, while leading the program to a combined record of 110-31-30 — including a run of six consecutive Western State Conference (WSC) Championships in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 20156.
As a result, Lundin has been named the WSC Coach of the Year in five of the past six seasons, most recently in 2016.
Additionally, the Cougars ended the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons as a nationally ranked community college soccer program. In 2014, Canyons was also named a National Academic Team Award Winner.
Under Lundin’s direction, 29 players from the COC women’s soccer program gone on to continue their playing careers at four-year schools.
A former athlete in his own right, Lundin is a graduate of nearby Bakersfield High School where he lettered in soccer, baseball and football. He also served as a captain of his soccer team and helped lead the Drillers win back-to-back Sequoia League titles, while making two CIF Semi-Final playoff appearances.
Lundin was named Bakersfield All-Area Player of the Year his senior year, and Bakersfield High School Athlete of the Year.
As a youth player, Lundin played in US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program for three years in the regional player pool. From 1994 to 1998 Lundin played for the Bakersfield Heat club team.
Lundin is a graduate of California State University, Northridge, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in physical education, and a master’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise physiology.
He also holds an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and a Certificate from AC Milan for completing the Milan Academy Formational School in Milan, Italy.
Lundin is the co-founder of FC Valencia Soccer Club in Santa Clarita where he serves on the executive board, coaches teams and has created a Youth Development Program for children ages 2 to 8.
Lundin is the former vice president and director of coaching for AC Milan Soccer Academy, having served in that position from 2010 to 2012.
He has held head coach positions for a variety of teams and organizations including the Hart High School varsity women’s team, the SCV Magic and the AC Milan USA Academy.
Lundin and his wife, Susan, reside in Castaic with their four children Grace, Anneliese, Kieran, and Gabrielle.
