The second-year College of the Canyons women's tennis program surpassed the .500 mark for the first time in program history after posting a 6-3 home victory over Antelope Valley College on Tuesday.

The Lady Cougars are now 3-2 on the season after having won back-to-back conference matches. COC previously defeated host Ventura College 7-2 on Feb. 12. Canyons also picked up a home win over Santa Monica earlier in the month. The team has also had two matches cancelled and two others postponed due to inclement weather. 

The victory over AVC was achieved short-handed, with head coach Patty LaBat down a player and thus unable to field a third doubles team. COC also only started five singles players, instead, forfeiting one singles matchup, along with a doubles pairing.

Una Stanisavljevic (6-0, 6-0), Nicole Villarta (6-0, 6-2), Celeste Hernandez (6-2, 6-0) each won their matchups in straight sets, while Marisa Wambolt (6-0, 5-7, 6-2) won in three.

Likewise, the doubles teams of Stanisavljevic/Wambolt (8-2) and Villarta/Hernandez (8-3) both earned wins for COC.

AVC's Natalie Pinzon was the long winner for the Marauders with her win over Calista LIan (2-6, 0-6).

3. Canyons loses to Oinzon/Rubio (AVC) — forfeit
