No. 12 Canyons Opens Conference Play with 3-0 Win at West L.A.

The College of the Canyons women's volleyball team opened up conference play with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-22) road win over West L.A. College in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division.
The Lady Cougars (14-3, 1-0) are looking to build on the success established with the program's back-to-back-to-back conference titles from 2013 to 2015.
Canyons extended its conference match win streak — which dates back to the 2013 season — to 31 games. The Lady Cougars have not lost a conference match since falling to Bakersfield College 3-0 back on Oct. 25, 2013.
On Friday, the Lady Cougars were in control throughout, winning the first two sets by double-digit point totals, before holding on to clinch the third set 25-22.

As has been a regularity throughout the season, it was Emily Burns leading the way with 10 kills.
Freshman Sam Nua recorded seven kills in the contest, and led all players with more than one attempt with a .700 kill percentage. Nua also added five digs and two blocked shots to finish with 12 points.
Erin Cremin had seven kills on a .636 kill percentage, while Ashley Sargent had six kills and four digs.
Morgan Ferguson helped facilitate the COC attack with 23 assists, two aces and three digs.
Canyons will return home to face Antelope Valley College at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21.
