Ferguson Named CCCWVCA State SoCal Player of the Week
The freshman middle blocker finished the week with 17 kills, 11 aces and seven blocks in helping Canyons to a pair of week seven victories.
College of the Canyons freshman middle blocker Grace Ferguson has been named the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) State Southern California Player of the Week for week seven of the 2018 season.
Ferguson, who entered the week ranked second in the state in hitting percentage at .493, posted two standout performances in the Lady Cougars' two victories to earn Player of the Week honors.
The freshman, who prepped at Saugus High School, totaled nine kills on 11 attempts, while also serving seven aces and collecting five blocks in a 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-22) sweep over Mt. San Antonio College on Oct. 10.
Ferguson then added eight kills, four aces and a pair of blocks in COC's 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-22) home victory over conference opponent L.A. Mission College. The win was the eighth straight for Canyons (14-5, 2-0).
