Canyons Gets First Home Win 3-0 Over Citrus
The win vs. Citrus was the first on the Cougars’ home floor since Oct. 26, 2018 after having the 2020 season cancelled and not playing at the Cougar Cage in 2019 due to ongoing renovations.

GLENDORA — College of the Canyons has won back-to-back matches for the second time this season after coming away with a 3-0 road victory at Citrus College on Friday. Set scores were 25-19, 25-9, 25-22.
Canyons (4-8, 2-1) had previously beaten West L.A. College on Oct. 13 in Culver City. The win vs. Citrus was the first on the Cougars' home floor since Oct. 26, 2018. COC did not play at the Cougar Cage in 2019 due to ongoing renovations to the gymnasium, then saw the 2020 season cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Sophomore Caitlin Liebe was the star of the night for Canyons, ending with 18 kills to match her previous season high. Liebe hit .562 on the night and also added two block assists.
Jacqueline Ibarra was next with eight kills followed by Ariana Vargas with five.
Rhiannon Boddy and Isabella Embleton both recorded for aces for the Cougars, while Sabrina Sveiven added two.
Freshman setter Abby Sherman finished the match with 32 assists, 11 digs and two aces.
Sveiven's 18 digs led both sides, while Boddy was close behind at 15.
Canyons hit .314 as a team while limiting the Owls to a .077 hitting percentage.
COC will remain home at the Cougar Cage on Monday, Oct. 18, in a rescheduled match vs. Glendale College. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
